Garbage truck hits overpass along Highway 99 in Delta

The BC Highway Patrol is investigating yet another overpass strike, just a couple of weeks after the last one.

The latest incident happened Monday around 7:30 a.m. on Highway 99 northbound at the 112 Street overpass in Delta.

Police say the driver of the commercial garbage truck didn’t stay at the scene.

“Whenever a driver is involved in a collision with an overpass, no matter how minor, there is an obligation to report the incident,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.

“BC Highway Patrol is working with our partners at CVSE to follow up with the driver and company involved in this overpass strike,” he added.

Police say there weren’t any disruptions to traffic, and the damage to the overpass doesn’t look to be too “severe.”
