Charges have been laid against a man suspected of killing another man in Vancouver’s CRAB Park in March.

The Vancouver Police Department was called to the waterfront park north of Gastown just before 8:30 a.m. on March 22 after a man’s body was found on the beach.

Days later, the VPD identified the victim as 51-year-old Brett MacDonald.

Police say MacDonald was “found deceased by a passerby on the north west side of Crab Park along the gravel path.”

In an update Friday, the VPD announced that a 47-year-old man was arrested in Red Deer, Alta. on April 10.

The BC Prosecution Service has charged the suspect with one count of first-degree murder related to MacDonald’s death.

In March, investigators said they believe the homicide was targeted.

Police say the suspect remains in custody until his next court appearance.
