Man rescued from burned Burnaby apartment building

Fire crews in Burnaby responded to a fire alarm activation in an apartment building across Boundary Road on Monday afternoon after 2:45 p.m.
Once the firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, they went into a heavily damaged unit of the building searching for residents.
One man was rescued from his apartment in critical condition.
Two ambulances with primary care paramedics, who also responded to the call, provided emergency medical treatment onsite.
The man was transported to the hospital, says Paramedic Officer Brian Twaites.
Also, one cat died in the fire.
