pedestrian in hospital after being hit by driver

One person is in the hospital, and a section of Imperial Street in Burnaby is closed Wednesday afternoon after a driver struck a pedestrian.

The Burnaby RCMP says the collision occurred around 1:15 p.m.

While details remain limited, Mounties report, “The pedestrian has been transported to the hospital with what appear to be serious, but currently unknown, injuries.”

As police investigate, Imperial Street remains closed between Hersham and Humphries Avenue, with the closure expected to last “several hours into the evening.”

Drivers are advised to use Elwell or Burris streets to avoid the area.
