The RCMP in Richmond arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a police officer this weekend.

Mounties say they received a call on Sunday, May 18, around 1 p.m. about a Ford Mustang with red and blue police lights driving around No. 2 Road between Westminster Highway to Francis Road.

The person calling the police told the RCMP that he got pulled over by the alleged impersonator.

According to the victim, the suspect was wearing a police badge lanyard and asked him to show his driver’s licence.

Feeling suspicious that the man was not a police officer, the victim drove off and reported the incident to the police.

“To date we have not received any similar reports involving this vehicle or suspect but are issuing this public warning to identify other potential victims and to prevent any further victimization,” said Insp. Mike Roberts.

The case remains under investigation by the Richmond RCMP.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was around No. 2 Road between Westminster Highway to Francis Road on May 18 between 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2025-15521.
