BC Ferries vessel Salish Orca services the Powell River-to-Comox route.

BC Ferries says two sailings on its Comox-to-Powell River route were cancelled Saturday due to mechanical issues.

The service says the vessel’s propulsion system is having a “mechanical difficulty,” leading to the cancellations of the 3:25 p.m. sailing from Comox and 5:15 p.m. sailing from Powell River.

The 7:10 p.m. from Comox and the 8:45 from Powell River are also in danger of being cancelled, it said.

A caller to The Leader Spirit said passengers weren’t informed of the cancellation until 15 minutes before the scheduled sailing time.
